POWER PULLING ASSOCIATION

THE WORLDS MOST POWERFUL MOTORSPORT - MINI VERSION

ABOUT US

ABOUT US - OUR HISTORY

Tractor Pulling first started in the USA around the 1920's and first came to Europe (firstly Holland then the UK) in the late 1970's.

The Power Pulling Association, also known as the PPA, was formed over the winter of 1993 to promote Mini Tractor Pulling in the UK and runs national championship Tractor Pulling competitions across the country. With power figures all the way from 12 to around 2000 horsepower all in light weight machines makes for some very wild rides. Anything goes, all the way from Modified ride on lawnmowers for the junior drivers up to the highly-strung methanol injected, supercharged V8 engine Mini Pullers. The custom-built tractors pull a specially built Weight Transfer Sledge over a 100metre dirt track. The winner being the one who pulls the furthest distance.

Once the tractor achieves a ‘FULL PULL’ the end flagman waves a red flag to signal the end of the run. If more than one puller in each of their class achieves a ‘FULL PULL’ then at the end of the class, the sledge is reset to make the load heavier and a ‘PULL OFF’ takes place with a ‘Floating Finish’ (meaning no full pull line) until the sledge stops them. The aim of the ‘PULL OFF’ is to establish who wins the class and who finishes 2nd, 3rd and so on.

The PPA has expanded since its creation from just Mini Modifieds to now include 350kg & 400kg Garden Tractors, 600kg Compact Diesels and most recently 500kg Garden Modifieds making the Power Pulling Assocation a family-oriented Tractor Pulling Organisation.

The Power Pulling Association uses two different sledges for its competition, one for the Mini's and the other smaller sledge for the Gardens and Compacts of which both are self propelled and maintained to the safest standards to the rulebook of the European Tractor Pulling Committee (ETPC).

In June 2017 the Power Pulling Association became a Limited Company and later 2019 saw the PPA celebrate it's 25th Anniversary. Go to our facebook page: Power Pulling Association 25th Anniversary to see the oldie pictures that have been uploaded so far.
