THE
POWER PULLING ASSOCIATION
The Power Pulling
Association (PPA) evolved from the Mini-puller Club (GB) which originally was
part of the British Tractor Pulling Association (BTPA). The BTPA was running all
tractor pulling divisions which included the 900 Kg class (mini-puller class).
Mainly due to
organisational problems the mini-puller club decided to operate as a separate
body and renamed itself the Power Pulling Association in 1993 and has operated
as such since then. The PPA promotes and runs 950 Kg tractor pullers in Great
Britain. The club aims are to promote and operate this class of tractor.
The PPA has built
one of the most advanced mini sleds in Europe which is self propelled and
computer controlled. Tractor numbers have steadily risen from 3 in 1991 to the
present registered 20. The PPA also operates the now famous exhibition puller
‘Throbin Robin’, the world’s most powerful Reliant Robin.
Popular tractors
in the club include ‘The Dealer’ (2008 Champion) with its incredible drag-race
Chevrolet engine and ‘Satan’s Toy’ - the first successful jet turbine
mini-puller in Europe. (1998 Champion) and Devils Symphony with its 27 litre v12
Rolls Royce.
Competition is
keen with points gained towards the British Championship at each pull. During
the season from May to September the PPA travels all over the country.
The club has an
enthusiastic following at steam, old time and vehicle shows where we stage our
pulling events and always draw a large crowd.
